Welcome to the module Youth Policy.


Think for a moment about youth policies.

How can they enable young people to be active citizens? What is the aim of youth policy? How can they support young people to be included in society and to realize their aspirations and potential? This course is meant to help answer these and other questions. 


During this course, different topics, which will help the learners to understand youth policies, will be considered. The participants will learn what youth policy is for and what are its objectives. They will find answers to the most relevant questions about the topic and have new vision about youth policy.


Each person who takes the course will have an opportunity to understand the basics of youth policy. Participants will learn the difference between youth policy and youth work policy and find their essentials.


They will learn how Youth Advocacy supports young people in all areas that affect them, be it education, housing, employment, unemployment, health, social security, recreation and human relationships. How it gives to the young person insights into the adult world of decision making and the exercising of authority, and enhances the young person's understanding of legal process.


During the course each participants will be able to have a research of the policies at different levels (e.g. European, national) and also research the policies in their own regions and countries what will help them to better understand the background of youth policy in their regions.


This module will explain why youth policy is important and what European policies do provide youth with best opportunities. EU youth Strategy


Participating in this course gives an opportunity not only learn how youth policies work but also learn how to create youth policies and what are evidence-based policymaking. The participants will get enough knowledge and will be able to work with youth policies.


By the end of this module, the learners will:


- see the difference between youth policies of different levels

- understand the “basics” of youth policy (concepts and definitions, scope, objectives, actors, European and national levels)

- become aware of the relevance of the key elements for youth policy (cross-sectoral, knowledge-based, participation, inclusion)

- understand the major steps for youth policy development, implementation and delivery

- reflect on the future of youth policy and their own future engagement in youth policy

- gain motivation and information about different ways of getting involved in youth policy.
