A visual library is necessary in order to quickly and easily select simple and understandable visual images for terms and concepts in the process of graphic facilitation and fix them. The larger your visual library, the easier it is for you to master the skill of graphic facilitation.

The composition of the visual library includes basic and additional elements.

The main elements include:

● simple drawings (objects, abstract concepts and drawings, diagrams.);

● drawings of people (topic number 5);

● visual analogies and metaphors (topic No. 6);

● fonts;

To additional:

● frames and doughs;

● schedules;

● arrows and guides;

● separators;

● icons.

For graphic facilitation, always use print fonts. According to their purpose, they are divided into headings, subheadings and fonts for the main text.

Visual library

You already know how to draw simple drawings of objects, abstract concepts and drawings-schemes. But in order to practice graphic facilitation, you need to instantly translate verbal abstracts into visual images and fix them, arrange text and visual images in clear and understandable structures, and manage attention. To do this, you need to create and replenish your personal visual library (visual dictionary).

- headings (font No. 3-No. 5) and subheadings (font No. 2);

-для основного текста (шрифт №1).

Do not forget the title, this is a very important part of the visualization. For the title, choose the largest font size, the title can occupy up to 20% of the area of your visualization. You can also use other decorative fonts for headings at your discretion. Remember that fonts also have an emotion, and it should match the meaning of your message.

Additional items

Frames and doughs help to combine information into semantic blocks, transmit speech, thoughts and ideas of characters;

Graphs serve for visual display of numerical data.

Arrows and guides help control attention and show timeline.

Separators separate semantic blocks and form a structure.

Icons - icons that are often read unambiguously and are used for block coding and visual navigation.

Building a visual library

To create a visual library, begin to draw until you draw a visual image by hand several times before being fixed in your library.

Take a notepad or open your diary from the end and headline - visual library. Start collecting visual images that you like and will be useful in future work. Copy icons, arrows, frames, simple drawings - fill your visual library.

You can also make lists of terms (words) and select visual images for them. If the visualization of any term is difficult, you can search for icons by this term on the Internet and invite your colleagues and friends to draw how they see and understand this concept.
