Preparing and planning

From the previous part of the Module titled “What is evaluation?” you already have a good “theoretical” base on the topic of evaluation in youth work and have an understanding of the concept of evaluation, its aims and objectives, models, actors, types and timing of evaluation.

So now it is high time to make one step further in direction of planning and preparing evaluation in youth work.

Planning in any sphere of personal life, in any job role, in any industry, is crucial in order to achieve personal, organizational and team goals. Good planning can make all the difference and, as it is said, every minute spent planning saves as much as ten minutes in execution. These statements, for sure, also concern project planning and preparing in general as well as planning and preparing every part of project.

So, as you already know, evaluation is a really important and complex part of the project, so it is not a good idea to prepare it the night before the end of the project. Evaluation needs to be planned and prepared before you start your project. In other words, planning the evaluation is an integral part of planning the project as a whole.

This part of the Module titled “Planning and preparing evaluation” will provide youth worker and those, who are interested in non-formal education, with information that will help them to get the most out of their project evaluation. Also this part of the Module focuses on what needs to be done before an evaluation to ensure that confusion, and frustration are minimized and evaluation conducted in the most efficient way.

After finishing the part “Planning and preparing evaluation” you will have step-by-step guidance on the “who, what, when, where, and how” of planning and preparing for an evaluation, with specific tools to organize information.

All in all, gained knowledge and skills in planning and preparing evaluation is a solid step to the point where we will be effective actors in conducting high-quality evaluation in the frames of youth work and educational projects for youth.

So, let’s start!
